ABSTRACT: Environmental discharge restrictions on both oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides from recirculating cooling water systems can have a significant impact on condenser cleanliness. A novel, non-chemical means of controlling micro-organisms in these systems has been successfully developed in Europe, and is now being introduced in the United States. The method (Ultrasound) of biological control associated with this process will be discussed and three case histories are also illustrated in the paper
